The Passion of Our Souls – Soulmates

PromoImage (28) The thought of melodic death metal and pop metal being fused into on has honestly never come across my mind until I saw this album. The Passion of Our Souls has created an album with a female vocalist that has a very raw set of vocals in between choruses, but during the chorus is where the pop metal comes in with the guitars still staying relatively the same but the vocals start singing instead of the sound that I can only call “the death metal voice”. We should all have a rough idea of what that sounds like. While I do personally believe that the sound overall could be fine tuned and everything sounding much more refined and smoother when it comes down to production, each song off of this 4-track EP has a balanced mix of the heavy guitars and drums alongside the obviously melodic and poppy vocals create with an interesting blend because, again, it’s something that I’ve never seen before and it worked out much better than other combinations I’ve heard before like combing nu-metal with techno. “Soulmates” isn’t exactly what I would call a ground-breaking album but it’s definitely the result of creative people thinking outside of the box to make something that is practically unheard of in the metal kingdom today and they a much better job than other bands out there have before, for sure.
