Acid Mammoth – Supersonic Megafauna Collision

We’ve seen thousands of different bands rise to prominence over the years with all sorts of approaches and attempts carefully crafted to show us what is still possible in the vast spectrum of metal. By all accounts, the results vary greatly in quality. However, it’s since day one of their own excursion into the underground that Acid Mammoth has remained consistent in more ways than one. Unashamed Sabbath worship done immense justice time after time; this is an act that has only gotten better with time. For their fourth effort, Acid Mammoth shows their dominance in the underground yet again.

Of all the many names that have cropped up across the many different fields of metal, Acid Mammoth has got to be one that has remained consistent since their emergence. Their conquest upon the masses via prehistoric behemoths has proven to be ridiculously successful over the years with few able to challenge their power or even come close to replicating the mastery on any sort of scale. Without question, Acid Mammoth has been a dominating force that is not to be underestimated with “Supersonic Megafauna Collision” is a tremendous testament to that simply powerful truth. A glorious excursion with six chapters of drawn-out riffs, supreme psychedelia, mountains of heaviness, and an undeniable presence that permeates the very soul of everything that Acid Mammoth has ever accomplished, it would not be hard for any of us to claim that this is the opus Acid Mammoth was built for. It’s the culmination of seven years dominating this particular corner of the doom metal underworld to show us what can still be done in the name of worshipping the greats with “Supersonic Megafauna Collision” living up to its potential in virtually every given instance. Where there is glory to be found, Acid Mammoth has as of yet failed to achieve it.

Given the approach rarely done successfully despite how many try to do it, Acid Mammoth remains on top. Their dominance and overwhelming power in this particular corner of doom metal has never been anything to deny with all that’s been brought forth in this piece only cementing their supreme reign in such a form that makes one’s very knees weak. The result of immensity mixed with such clear passion is what has always driven this band forward with “Supersonic Megafauna Collision” but the latest of wildly successful offensives for this band.
