It’s very important to keep up with the originals in this day and age where it feels like any asshole with a will can just pick up a guitar and make an album. That’s how I feel anyway, and it’s quite sobering for me to see that bands who laid down the very foundations for entire styles of metal are still going quite strong and creating very exceptional pieces. Integrity is one of them, and as one of the founders of hardcore and a band that further cemented the awesomeness of metal, they did not disappoint a single bit with their upcoming heavy as fuck slab of an album.
With such an. . . interesting cover art such as that you better be damned sure to make sure that your music fits that shit quite well. That’s exactly what Integrity has done as the material held within the confines of “Howling, For the Nightmare Shall Consume” from solid beginning to nail biting end. And all the while these eleven tracks really show how Integrity came to bring forth hardcore as a style that can be built upon as you can really feel all the core ideals of the style within this record, and Integrity pulls them all off flawlessly with along with a little bit of diversity to keep the album fun and gripping at the same time. Be it a crunchy riff mixed with the meaty drums or the hoarse roar of the vocals that draw you in, “Howling, For the Nightmare Shall Consume” has got the perfect sound for the entire style that honestly gave me the best experience that any album that can even be remotely considered hardcore has ever given me. I’ve heard quite a few, as well, yet Integrity still remains at the top of the food chain for hardcore as one can see just from any one track from this record. But then throw together all of this piece and what you’ve got is a brilliantly explosive record that is as sweet as it is vicious.
By still bringing a fresh taste to the style and still managing to bust out something truly tasty, Integrity shows that the years have been kind to them and that they’re not showing any signs of slowing down anytime in the near future. I wish more band who helped lay forth foundations for styles would stick around more because I wanna see what would become of them decades later, and in the case of Integrity it’s clearly led to everything going perfectly fine and they have a monster of an album to use as perfect proof.
