Condor – Unstoppable Power

There are few bands out there that can emulate classic thrash metal anymore, and that’s what a lot of people refer to as the golden age for the style. That’s when things were really bloody, gritty, and really went into the bloodbath without hesitation. Condor seems to come straight from the past with their style being exactly what the doctor ordered, and it’s ever so glorious.

Straight from the awesome classic-looking cover art, you immediately get somewhat of an old school vibe from Condor. Then hearing the first track of “Unstoppable Power” alone is more than enough to reel you in and make you feel like you’ve teleported back decades where metal was dominated by thrash admirers left and right. There’s not one single thing that Condor did with “Unstoppable Power” that doesn’t stick 100% true to the “rule” book of thrash metal, and while “rules” vary from time to time, Condor follows the one that always sticks: more speed! That’s something that this record has got in excess and it’s the sort of thing that this band has clearly mastered because the speed is the clear driving force behind “Unstoppable Power”, and from the unrelenting rhythms and sheer ferocity of the eight tracks contained within this record there’s something for every speed loving metalhead to enjoy and them some.

“Classic” isn’t exactly the word that I would use to describe “Unstoppable Power” as a whole, but it’s definitely the word to explain the explosive style behind Condor. Few have managed to reach back into the past and draw directly from the inspiration laid out by legends like Slayer and then proceeded to create something new, familiar, and fun all at the same time. It’s for those reasons that the speed trip of “Unstoppable Power” is as marvelous as it is, and is something that should be heard by those who simply love having their flesh melted right off the bone.
