You know, I’m always a fan of bands who’ve been around for quite some time because they can really go two ways. They can either (1) basically stick to one style throughout their time as a band and eventually nail it with whatever releases they pump out, or try different sounds that either satisfy their musical desires or to help keep their pockets somewhat lined. In the case of Wolf’s Hunger, these Serbians have gone with the former to deliver us some tasty blackened thrash metal.
Being a band for over fifteen years is no small feat if you ask me, and the fact that the band in question could still continue to put out records that are still quite enjoyable show the talent and drive that many groups fail to display after even two simple demos. Wolf’s Hunger has just released their new record of “Bež’te živi vraćaju se mrtvi” which is only their second full-length piece in their time, but motherfucker does it sound ridiculously good! The album has everything a blackened thrash album could ever possibly need: speed that more than worthy of headbanging, a ferocity that can only be compared to a raging blaze, riffs that refuse to quit even after going for quite some time, and a diverse track by track sound that makes even your fifth spin of “Bež’te živi vraćaju se mrtvi” a mighty enjoyable one. It’s not just everything that’s typical to a fusion of black and thrash metal that Wolf’s Hunger have mastered here. This band has also garnered the skill to know when to pull back with the intensity and lay off on the speed just enough to really pull you into the music even more only to soon change things up, making you enjoy what you’ve already been savoring all the more. I’m very confident in saying that if you’re any sort of fan of this hybrid genre and you want something is nothing short than a treat and a gift that you should give yourself that keeps on giving, “Bež’te živi vraćaju se mrtvi” is precisely what you need to fucking get, and I can just about promise mass enjoyment out of it.
It’s not easy for anyone to come out of the arguably obscure nation of Serbia and be able to say that they can make killer metal that doesn’t disappoint, yet here Wolf’s Hunger stands here in their full glory that cannot be denied. If anything is to be gleaned from “Bež’te živi vraćaju se mrtvi” it’s that these guys aren’t fucking around and that they know how to create ball busting metal that is satisfying to the very end, and I’ve no doubt in my voice when I say we can expect many great things to come from Wolf’s Hunger.
