Very rarely do people just a band’s potential quality based the record label they’re signed to simply because it just wouldn’t work the vast majority of the time. But if I want some straight nasty and darker than hell metal that holds nothing back in the slightest, I’d immediately turn to I, Voidhanger Records because they know the extreme side of metal and know how to pick out the best of the best bands. This yet again rings true with the international group of Ysengrin whose upcoming split with Sartegos is nothing short of unrelenting malice.
Splits, to me, have to include two bands that compliment each other greatly to really work, and that is absolutely the case with the upcoming piece of “Resvrrezionespiritval”. Both groups of Ysengrin and Sartegos get pretty equal run time as they both throw down three massive tracks with the former laying down some straight up vile blackened death metal and the former slamming some brutal as fuck death that by the end of the near half hour long split, you’ll be definitely reaching to replay it again just to experience the monumental levels of intensity once more. With “Resvrrezionespiritval”, we first get Ysengrin’s massive entity that really tantalizes the senses with sick riffs that show the excellence of the dark side, and then it’s Sartegos who really destroy your being with the true power of the darkness in every way possible. And while that’d turn plenty away, those of us who embrace the evil side will simply gravitate towards “Resvrrezionespiritval” and indulge ourselves in its devilish natures because it is just so much that one could want out of a split between two bands of similar sound. Ysengrin and Sartegos form a simply brilliant combination with this split the likes of which we just don’t see a lot of anymore, and I’m very happy that these two underground bands have managed to come together to create a real treat for anyone who dares to listen to their fiendish work.
As a matter of fact, “Resvrrezionespiritval” is but the second entry in a series of four splits that aim to be the pinnacle of the style Ysengrin stands for because it’s their project and so far it’s going swimmingly, but it’d be a really impressive feat if they manage to top this one. It’s their wondrously vile and unholy unison with Sartegos that bring out the best of Ysengrin, and with all the excellence that was displayed with “Resvrrezionespiritval” I can’t fucking wait to see what else this band can summon from not just themselves, but others as well.
“Resvrrezionespiritval” releases on November 11th!
