Of all the death metal bands out of Sweden that I’ve heard of, Paganizer beats them all by sheer might alone. If you’re the kind of guy who wants real muscle to come out of your death metal, then please do not avert your eyes from this EP for it could possibly be the most wondrously brutal piece of its kind to come out all year.
I know that’s one hell of an assumption, but please, allow to explain. “On the Outskirts of Hades” has but four tracks within it, but those four have the capacity and raw power to take you by the throat and punch your fucking lights out, then your teeth, then break your nose, until your face is painted crimson and all you’ve got to say is “please sir I want some more”. From the fiery riffs to the guttural vocals, Paganizer deliver an amazing performance that you’d be hard pressed to see recreated on such a grand scale and to such a degree that any and all death metal fans who hear it have no choice but to simply head bang along to the intensity. Never before has a four track EP smashed so hard, did it as amazingly well, or done such a great job as to show that even after almost 20 fucking years of filthy, disgusting death metal these Swedes are nowhere near ready to throw in the towel, and “On the Outskirts of Hades” is a prime example of that, and I feel like many modern death metal bands can learn a lot from this EP alone.
This is one of those albums of its genre that when all the jargon everyone says to describe the record, all that you can call the EP is simply stunning. “On the Outskirts of Hades” is an essential death metal record of 2016 and something that you are absolutely not going to want it pass you by. A fucking killer time, guaranteed.
