I’ve never been one to shy away from a whiff of good grunge or punk to get a good burst of aggression because who doesn’t want that every once in a while? Bands like Iron Reagan capture my attention with full force with their excellent sound and awesome, aggressive power that never ceases. And if there was ever an album to encapsulate the perfect crunch with a great sound in recent times, Wrong’s first full length album takes the fucking cake.
Eleven tracks come together with this self-titled record to give us just under a half hour of intense, crunchy riffs mixed with a sense of aggression that never once pulls its punches. Throughout each an every song, all of which vary in lengths from barely over a minute to not much long than four whole minutes, you are given a set of real head banging guitars and a bass that continuously slap you in the face over and over again to only end the assault punching your fucking lights out. Then when it’s all over it begins right back again with the beginning of the next track. What really puts the delicious icing on this great cake is how well the vocals fit with everything else in the band from the rhythms to the heaviness despite there being somewhat of a clear contrast as they don’t immediately seem like the best match, but by the chorus of the first song alone you realize how well they fit and the impeccably grand sound they create together. And don’t even dare to think that Wrong are as incompetent to only have two, three, or four tracks that actually sound good of the record and everything else be shitty filler tracks. Oh no, each and every song off of “Wrong” itself has power and the lies of which that you just don’t find in whatever fucking grunge or punk or fuck whatever band of any kind comes along, for Wrong truly is that one band in every few hundred (many even thousand) that actually prove their a real band with real music made by real talent.
As a debut full length, Wrong have truly hit the ball out of the park with this record because it has everything that a band needs to make for their first record along with pulling of everything that proves they aren’t going to be a band that puts out one solid album and that’s it. Wrong, I can almost guarantee it, will slowly become on of those grunge bands that will be known and revered for their awesomeness.
