Death and doom metal have always been one of my personal favorite genres in all of metal, and sadly sometimes combining them doesn’t work out while other times it works out fabulously. And thankfully, the later is true with Shrine of the Serpent’s new self-titled album! While only having 3 tracks to it, this album keeps to one of the key features of doom metal: the length of songs. Each of the songs are over 8 minutes long with the longest being just under 12, but that doesn’t mean they’re lacking in quality because all of them have an incredible feel to them. That’s where the death metal part comes in. The vocals are just about as death metal as they come just short of those of Cannibal Corpse and Behemoth. Just the overall feel of the album is amazing in every way that fans of both genres like me are able to easily enjoy this piece, and many others along with them have already realized how truly awesome this album is. So get your ass over to Bandcamp and listen to this or you’re missing out!
