Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. “The title says ‘Hollow||Bones’ but the cover says ‘Edenborn'”. Well, they changed their name. That’s it. That’s all there is to it. But that’s not the point here. “Lionheart: Execution” is a terrific single from a New York band that I was told is underrated in their area so bad that the person who told me about them said “it actually hurts a little” that a band that she believes it this talented in her eyes doesn’t get the recognition that she thinks they deserve. Well I will be the judge of that! And as judge my ruling is that I believe that! Just by hearing this one single I believe that Hollow||Bones does indeed have talent and they’re the kind of metalcore band that you’d never see coming. This single combines harsh and soothing vocals as all metalcore bands do but here’s the twist – the “softer” vocals are those of a woman. That adds a whole new dimension to the soft vocals because many of us subconsciously process female voices as more soothing that a man’s and that implementation worked FANTASTICALLY here. Then the guitars and drums have an awesome sound that is that of traditional metalcore and they create a great beat that is easy for just about any metalcore to get into pretty quickly. And if this is to come in an album that will be as good as this single then I’ll be all over that shit because this is fantastic.
